Here you can see the new street layout to provide access to the new Marconi Wireless Telegraphy works in Chelmsford. The plan above shows the area covering the Chelmsford cricket ground at the time. The new works would take up the area of the Cricket ground, with a large area to the west was held back for expansion. To the north of the Cricket Ground it was proposed that a new road would be built to link New Street with Glebe Road. This road was later named "Marconi Road" and following the construction of the new works; houses were built along the north side of Marconi Road, for the benefit of the Company's employees.
